The 04PSC-94 occurrence is located on a ridge crest east of the headwaters of Wrede Creek, 9 kilometres north of Johanson Lake.
Regionally, the area is underlain by undivided volcanic rocks and fine clastic sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Takla Group which have been intruded by monzodioritic to gabbroic rocks of the Lower Jurassic Melville and Lehto plutons (Mitchell Intrusions) to the north and Cretaceous quartz dioritic rocks to southwest. To the east, Upper Triassic ultramafic rocks are exposed.
Locally, a mineralized quartz vein is hosted within a volcanic breccia. The vein is approximately 50 centimetres wide, strikes north-northwest, and dips steeply. It consists mainly of white bull quartz cut by rusty hairline fractures, but also includes scattered vugs containing quartz crystals, and patches of pyrite-chalcopyrite-azurite mineralization.
A sample of well-mineralized vein material contained 1.771 grams per tonne gold, 61.529 grams per tonne silver, and greater than 1 per cent copper (EMPR Fieldwork 2004, pages 109-130).
Work History
The 04PSC-94 was discovered during a BC Geological Survey mapping field program in 2004.
In 2021, Wedgemount Resources Corp. completed a program of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and spectral analysis on the area surrounding area as the regionally extensive Cookie property.
